What is the earliest time we can check in?
It is possible to check in almost any time of the day or night. If our office is closed then we can make arrangements to leave a key out for you and directions to your room so if your ferry is late or you are coming on a boat in the middle of the night you are still able to stay here.
Our office hours are 8am - 1.30pm and 3pm thru to 9pm. If you check in before 12pm your room may not be ready but we are happy for you to put your lugguage in storage and use our facilities until your room is ready.

How far are you from the town centre?
It takes about eight minutes to walk right into the centre of town. We like to think we have a pretty good spot being so close to town but not right in it as the Port and train station can be noisy but we are far enough away not to hear that noise. We do though have a superette just 2 secs from us for food and drink basics. There is also a pub about two minutes walk away.

Are we able to leave our luggage whilst we walk the Queen Charlotte Track?
Yes no problem and this is FREE of charge.

Are we able to leave our car in your car park for a few days while we walk the track?
This just depends on the time of year. If it is very busy then we may not be able to be able to store your car in the carpark in consideration for other guests however at some times of the year this will be fine so just ask. If we aren't able to offer you parking in the car park we'll organise for it to be parked safely somewhere else while you are away.

Is the hostel suitable for children?
Yes we are more than happy to have children staying here. Our family unit has its own bathroom facilities and entranceway. The children will enjoy the spa pool and TV room plus being able to mix & mingle with all different nationalities.

Do you accept Groups?
Sequoia Lodge is a great place for Groups and with the dorm rooms being in a separate area to the doubles and twins with ensuites it means that your group can be in one area without other guests feeling overtaken by the Group. Tramping Groups will love the hot spa pool (for weary limbs), the great laundry facilities, etc. If you are a big Group we may suggest that you have sole use of the hostel so please just phone or email us your requirements and we'll be able suggest how best to accommodate your group. Depending on the time of year we may also be able to offer a special Group rate.

Can I work for accommodation?
Yes we always have travellers who work for accommodation and they also get a free breakfast, free laundry, Internet Access and other bonuses in return for being part of our team. Please email us and we'll let you know if we have space.

I have work and want to stay for a month or so. Do you do weekly rates?
We have a few rooms set aside in quieter months that are for those that want to stay more than a few days and we are happy to offer a weekly rate. Again best to email or phone us to check availability.

Do I have to bring a sleeping bag and towel?
No need for a sleeping bag. The doubles & twins are fully made up and we supply sheets & duvets for the dorm beds. Extra duvets, pillows and blankets are also available at no cost (we want you to be warm & very comfortable). Doubles & twins have towels in their rooms and for dorms you can hire a towel for $1 for your stay.

What sort of people stay at Sequoia Lodge?
All different nationalities, ages & cultures stay at our Backpackers. It is mostly independent travellers who are attracted to our hostels but we do also cater for large Groups (particularly in the quieter times).
